Roundup: HD 4890 CF is faster than GTX 295

AMD's HD 4890 day is today, 2nd of April, and as expected, bunch of reviews have started to show up online. Nvidia has pushed its GTX 275 launch date to April 2 as well and most of these reviews are a direct head to head battle of these new cards.

Our friend W1zzard from Techpowerup decided to show some Crossfire action and paired up Powercolor's and Sapphire's HD 4890. The results are quite interesting as this setup outperforms the GTX 295, Nvidia's dual GPU king of the hill. He also did single reviews of these cards as well, and compared them to Zotac's AMP! Edition GTX 275 card. This factory overclocked GTX 275 card manages to even outperform the GTX 285. You can find all of these reviews here.

Our Croatian friends from PCEkspert.com managed to get their hands on XFX's X-like box packed HD 4890 XXX-edition that is overclocked to 900MHz for the core and 975MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory. They decided to underclock it in order to get the reference results and compared it to ATI's previous RV770 based cards and Nvidia's overclocked GTS 250.

The guys from Hartware.net managed to snag Asus' EAH4890 card and did a nice German language review of it. If Asus is your pleasure and if you can read German, you can check it out here.

Hexus.net scored two HD 4890 cards as well and compared it to Nvidia's reference GTX 275. They agree that GTX 275 is a better card as it matches Radeon HD 4890 with price and performance, has a quieter fan and draws less power when idling.

The guys from Guru3D.com scored a HIS Turbo Edition HD 4890 and the reference Nvidia GTX 275. Hilbert also agrees that GTX 275 is a great product with a great price, while the HD 4890 should probably need a drop in the price department to give it an edge over the GTX 275.
