Hundreds to go

S3 Graphics, once a major player in the graphics industry, is planning to shed a quarter of its U.S. based workers, according to techpowerup.

Since it was taken over by VIA, S3 showed signs of recovery, as its IGPs are used in VIA based machines, but the company never recovered from its feud with Intel. It also hasn't managed to create a competitive discrete solution in years, although it latest low-end parts show promise.

It's unclear how many will be let go, but the cuts will reportedly affect various divisions of the company, including some worker in the parent company, VIA. Techpowerup thinks hundreds will be out of a job.
