AMD releases Catalyst 8.9

AMD
has released Catalyst 8.9 and in addition to the usual bug fixes and resolved issues, the new driver brings OverDrive support for Quad CrossfireX configuration, OpenGL 3.0 extension support and a new display mode in Catalyst Control Center.

The Catalyst Control Center now has a 1080p @ 50Hz custom mode support for HDTVs for all the Raderon series from X1000 to the HD 4000 series. The most important update is the OverDrive support for Quad CrossfireX configurations that now allow users to overclock each graphics cards core and memory clocks in a CrossfireX mode. As mentioned, the new Catalyst 8.9 also bring OpenGL 3.0 extension support.

As for the bug fixes and resolved issues, some games that will benefit from a new versions are Company of Heroes, Quake 4, Spore, World in Conflict, DiRT, Age of Conan and many more.
