UK customers who want to use Linux in their Dell PCs will have to pay more than a third more than those in the US.
According to ZDNet.co.uk the Inspiron 530n desktop and the Inspiron 6400n notebook have been launched with a huge mark-up. US customers pay $619 (£305.10) for the 530n, while UK customers are forced to pay £416.61. More than a third more 36 percent.
This flies in the face of Adam Griffin, Dell's spokesperson's claims that UK users would definitely not be asked to pay a premium compared with American customers.
However it appears that Dell charges more for its Windows computers too. Taking almost identical machines the £416.61 Linux desktop still compares favourably with the £504 Vista model.
