The new keyboard is real

Apple launched it's new, heavily rumoured about, iMac yesterday and it's the first Apple computer ever to feature an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor. It also got the new keyboard that we reported about here and it's missing the Apple keys, even if some sceptics didn't believe it would.

The new iMac will be available in four different standard configurations as per below:

$1,199 - €1,199
20in, 1,680 x 1,050 LCD
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB RAM
250GB SATA
8x SuperDrive
128MB ATI Radeon HD 2400XT

$1,499 - €1,449
20in, 1,680 x 1,050 LCD
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB RAM
320GB SATA
8x SuperDrive
256MB ATI Radeon HD 2600PRO

$1,799 - €1,749
24in, 1,900 x 1,200 LCD
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB RAM
320GB SATA
8x SuperDrive
256MB ATI Radeon HD 2600PRO

$2,299- €2,219
24in, 1,900 x 1,200 LCD
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme
2GB RAM
500GB SATA
8x SuperDrive
256MB ATI Radeon HD 2600PRO

The CPUs are mobile Core 2 Duo's as with the previous version of the iMac and it's only using DDR2 667MHz memory, which isn't really up to scratch, especially not for the Core 2 Extreme model.

The hard drive can be upgraded all the way up to 1TB on the 24in models and 500 or 750GB on the 20in models. Also part of the spec is built in 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0.

Once again we get done over in Europe, even though some of the pricing is slightly lower, it's not enough to justify the exchange rate difference.
