Cebit 2010: Starting from 600W up to 1200W

Cooler Master showed off their new Silent Pro Gold 80G series PSUs at Cebit. The series consists of 6 models ranging from 600W up to 1200W and it should be available around Computex, but unfortunately we don’t know the price yet.

Aside from high efficiency, the new series has a couple of new features. The HTT (heat transform technology) circuit layout improves thermals, while hybrid transformers reduce size by 25% and combine the heatsink with the transformer and Hyper path provides a link between IC and relative components.

Only 1200W and 1000W PSUs will have 135 mm fan (PSU dimension 150x180x86mm), while 900W, 800W, 700W and 600W (PSU dimension 150x160x86mm) will feature silent 120 mm fan.

Efficiency is rated at more than 90% and all have single fat +12V rail up to 48A.

The outstanding efficiency of the Gold series was demonstrated at Cebit, when Cooler Master compared a 800 W Silent Pro Gold 80G against an unbranded PSU. We saw up to 20W difference between these two. It's also worth noting the Silen Pro Gold series offers good power management when PC if off, thus cutting consumption even further. Usually a PSU is drawing about 1-2W from the grid when the PC is off, but with new CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold it will not exceed 0.5W (on the picture below right device while other one upper left shows unbranded PSU efficiency).

By the way, starting in anno 2014, each electronic device sold in Europe will have to consume 0W in the 'off' state.
