Cebit 2009: For dual 2.5-inch drives

Patriot showed us yet another soon to be launched product, a RAID box that can be used both externally and internally. This RAID box will house two 2.5-inch SATA drives that can be set to work in any two-disk RAID configuration.

The case is made out of aluminum that should take care of cooling, and also help if you decide to do a normal hard disk configuration instead of SSD RAID. The front panel can be opened individually for both drives and if the front switch is not set to "lock mode", the drives will not be powered.

The back of the device reveals that the drives can be set to work in three different modes, RAID 0, 1 or JBOD.

The back also has power, SATA and USB interface which gives you an idea that this one can be used both internally and externally. According to Patriot reps, it will be bundled with a stand for external usage. Patriot is also considering on selling this one as a bundle with its SSDs but we will have more details once this one is officially announced.

This new Patriot RAID box should be ready soon and we might see it on retail/e-tail shelves by the end of this month.
