Verizon testing CDMA version of iPad

No word on if they are testing iPhone, as well

Sources tell us today that apparently Verizon is testing a CDMA compatible version of the iPad. From what we understand it might not only be CDMA, but is also likely GSM, as well, making it similar to what Verizon calls a “World Phone.” Verizon is also still working on LTE, and apparently some iPads are somehow equipped to enable LTE testing.

The fact that Verizon is using the iPad in testing does not really mean anything other than Verizon is testing iPad. Despite some mumbling, we hear that the iPhone isn’t being tested or has already been tested. None of this means anything, but we have to believe that Verizon still wants the iPhone and iPad, and would do anything to get a deal in place to sell them.

It could be that the iPad is going though technical acceptance testing, but then again, maybe not. It is hard to tell what Verizon might be up to, but it does seem that it is logical that Apple would want to continue the success that they have had with the iPad; and being carrier locked to AT&T in the U.S. isn’t the way to get it done. A second provider would be the way to go. We assume we will hear more soon, but there really is no telling at this point.
