Sure?

As of today, Microsoft is letting its customers choose whether they want the advertisements based on their surfing habits. The same privacy policy, updated today, says that the company is going to anonymise cookies that contain information after 18 months.

It doesn't strike us as odd because at the same time Google is pressured not to hold users' search information for so long. The actual timespan of Google cookies is two years, and it does little to protect the privacy of users.

However it does strike us as odd that Microsoft would even try to convince its users that it actually cares about their privacy.
