IT industry in trouble

The high
tech industry in China is facing a severe labour shortage.

With most companies depending on hardware with the “made in China” label stamped on it this could be bad news. According to Digitimes the problems are particularly bad in Southern China which is short two million workers who did not come back to work after the Lunar New Year.

Shenzhen, the largest concentration of factories in the province, has the largest labour supply gap of 820,000 workers, followed by Dongguan with 200,000, Guangzhou with 150,000 and Zhongshan with 130,000.

The problems for such companies is that demand for their products has risen while the number of workers from outside the province has decreased. It is not clear how this will effect the supply of hardware coming from China, no company has made an official statement on the crisis yet.
