Something new to announce on January 27th

As we have previously reported, Apple has now sent invites out to various media outlets inviting them to an event/briefing to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on January 27th. While the invite only says, “Come see out latest creation,” our sources tell us that Apple will announce their long awaited tablet product at this time.

While the tablet product, which has become known as the iSlate to most these days, is likely to be the biggest announcement, whispers tell of a new touch screen iMac addition to also be announced. Despite all of the wishing, our sources seem to be in conflict over whether we will hear any announcements on the iPod or iPhone front, with most suggesting that there will be nothing new for those product lines to announce at this time.

With the iSlate to be the big focus of the event, we do find it unlikely that Apple will really announce much for any other product line at this event. Some buzz does seem to indicate that we should expect at least some third party software announcements at this event that will show off how to actually use the iSlate for something useful, and we hear that gaming and media will factor into what we might see. There is not much longer to wait for the iSlate to arrive and we have to say that we will be sorry to see all of this hype drawn to an end, as it did give us a lot to write about.
