Our sources confirm this is the case

According to our sources in the land of BlackBerry, satellite radio provider Sirius/XM is developing a streaming application to allow BlackBerry devices to listen to their content using devices on the BlackBerry platform. It is unknown if this will be restricted to the new OS 5 BlackBerry devices or if the application will support devices running OS 4 or higher.

This news isn’t that surprising, as Sirius/XM has offered a similar application for the iPhone platform for some time. In addition, the company (through XM) has offered some content to carriers through specific arrangements with the actual wireless carriers. It is thought that the new BlackBerry application would allow streaming of about 125 channels of content using the standard Sirius/XM accounts that subscribers already have.

While our sources seem to indicate that the majority of the latest BlackBerry family will support the application, to us this means that it will run on devices that are running OS 4.x or higher.  No release date was mentioned, but it is likely to arrive in the spring or summer of this year. It is unknown if Howard Stern or programming from the Howard Stern channels will be part of what will be available using this application.  In the past, Sirius/XM has excluded Howard Stern programming from their mobile offerings and we have no reason to think that this will change when the application is released.
