Not just for Xbox 360 anymore

The Microsoft Game Room service that we talked about yesterday now has a bit more detail, as we have found that it will arrive this spring with about 30 titles. What we didn’t know yesterday is that it will arrive for both the Xbox 360, as well as the Game for Windows platform.

While the titles will be old school titles all the way, it will offer a variety of Atari and Konami arcade titles, as well as Intellivision titles; and even some Atari 2600 titles if you really want to relive the past. The plan is for the Game Room to grow to the point where it will have over 1,000 titles, but we think they will have to get more people on board for this; and we hear that some companies will be watching this closely to see if this distribution method works for them or not.

As for pricing, you will be able to buy a title for between 240 and 400 Microsoft points, but an interesting single play option will be available for just 40 Microsoft points. The single play option is interesting in the fact that it expands the micro purchase nature of the Game Room and could prove to be an interesting experiment on how successful a single play micro purchase of this type will be. There is no word yet on if or how you might be able to play before you buy, or if this will even be possible in this situation.
