DRAM vendors could make some money

Over the holiday weekend we've been hearing from some of our analyst contacts who are, in fact, predicting that by the second quarter of 2010 we could be facing a DRAM shortage and prices could rise as much as 50% over the current price that consumers are paying today.

The expected driver behind this is reduced spending that caused many to put off buying new PCs and laptops; and coupled with the current attractive prices, it is expected that companies as well as end users will jump into this buying frenzy, putting stress on DRAM availability.

The news of a banner year for DRAM sales will give DRAM vendors the chance to make significant profit over what they have been able to make in the past couple of years. This buying cycle is expected to last until the end of 2010, according to our sources.
