Explains delays

Apple's
much delayed Tablet apparently been slowed because Steve Jobs wants much tougher glass panels.

Innolux, the panel-making subsidiary of the Foxconn Group, has admitted to Digitimes that it will be the initial supplier of touch panels for Apple's tablet PC, with Wintek standing a change of becoming a second supplier at a later time.

The world + dog was expecting Apple to release its Tablet before Christmas but suddenly Jobs' Mob pulled the plug on that time.  The problem was that Apple would not even tell the world that it was about to release a Tablet and denied all existence of the beast, or a time table for its release.

Now it turns out that Apple has been seeking solutions to strengthen the glass of the 10-inch panel for the device and was forced to delay the launch until first-quarter 2010. Foxconn's optical glass processing subsidiary G-Tech Optoelectronics will provide a glass strengthening process for the device, while Taiwan-based optical film maker Wah Hong Industrial has also reportedly landed component orders.

Most are expecting Apple is expected to announce the tablet PC in January of 2010 with mass shipments to start in March or April. Recently Apple started re-priming its tame press with the same rumours that it was getting them to print last year.

It seems that only Digitimes has come up with any facts.
