Testing three different program levels

As we told you previously, Microsoft has finally kicked off the pilot of its Xbox Live Rewards program. While there are three different rewards program types that they are testing, all of them reward participants in the pilot program for doing the things that they normally do, anyway.

From what we have been able to tell, the program seems to be tuned more toward Xbox Live Gold subscribers; Silver level members can also earn points. Basically, from what we hear, if you are a Gold member you can get a month’s reward of up to 5% of your total amount of market place points spent. Additional points are available, as well, by participating in program surveys.

The rewards that you earn are paid in Microsoft Points and can be used toward additional purchases. While Emails were sent out seeking participants in the Xbox Live Rewards program, it does seem that at least for the moment all of the participants that the company is going to use in this trial have been selected and contacted at least for the first round of testing. It remains to be seen if the company will move to making the rewards program a standard offering going forward, but it is likely that once all of the tinkering with the program is done and they sort things out, it will likely become a common a standard offering.
