Kevin Turner, Microsoft chief operating officer has confirmed that Windows Server 2008, which was once known as Longhorn, will be launched next February. Microsoft had said that Windows Server 2008 would be available beforethe end of this year. The launch will coincide with upgrades of SQL Server and Visual Studio.

According to ComputerWorld, Turner called those three products 'big dogs' of Microsoft's enterprise software portfolio. We are not sure if he really meant that, as calling something a bit of a dog in Europe means something else. If he had called them 'the dogs' then British readers might have thought he meant they were good.

He said that resellers and other business partners at the conference that he expects the joint rollout to generate "a feeding frenzy of opportunity" as users look to upgrade.
