The success of Amazon's Kindle has made some manufacturers take the creation of ebooks a lot more seriously. Asustek Computer has already indicated it plans to launch an e-book reader.

According to company president and CEO Jerry Shen, Asustek's 9-inch grayscale e-book reader will soon appear in the market, but in limited quantities and targeting niche markets. It is also planning a standard e-book reader version for the great unwashed early next year.
