Set to be on shelves in November

While Game Stop has already removed the page from their Web site, the company seems to have confirmed what we already suspected:  that we would see the new black Xbox 360 Wireless N adapter before the end of the year. In fact, we will see it before the end of November, according the previous Game Stop listing that is being confirmed by our other sources, as well.

While the new N model will retail for $99.99, the current G model will receive a $20 price cut as expected. The N version will offer backward compatibility with B and G wireless configurations, but owners will have to purchase a new 802.11n access point or router to take advantage of the additional speed offered by the N standard.

While the date in November seems to be up in the air, Game Stop was predicting a November 3rd launch; but some of sources don’t agree with this date, suggesting that it will be more likely on November 10th or November 17th. We suspect that Microsoft would like to get at least some of these out prior to the launch of CODWM2, as it is a safe bet that some folks will be buying wireless for online play. We are hearing rumblings that actual quantities of the Wireless N adapter could be a little tight until after the first of the year, according to our sources, if it turns out that the demand for the N adapter is high.
