A PC World poll of 8000 XP users has given a kick to the nadgers of
Microsoft's marketing people. The survey all said that they didn't upgrade because they
are comfortable with XP, Vista lacks features that might justify an upgrade,
and they're concerned about driver and compatibility issues.
But the poll also revealed a deep hatred for things
Visterish. More than 62 percent said that their opinion of the OS was somewhat
or very negative. Those who had never used it even hated it more with 81
percent were somewhat or very negative. The only reason the marketing Voles can take solace from
the poll is because most respondents said that were keeping an open mind about
Windows 7.
More than 26 percent of respondents who said they had
already used Windows 7 liked it a lot. The rest said that their opinion of Win
7 was somewhat or very positive. Only 11 percent said that they hated it and
wanted to stick to XP.
More than half said that they intended to move to Windows
7 immediately or eventually.
