RIM likely to release the new Mac offering

It seems that a lot of BlackBerry users are eager to get their hands on the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac, and waiting and wondering continues to be gain momentum. Well, wait no more, as it is expected that RIM will finally make the BlackBerry Desktop manager for Mac available later today.

While some have been playing with the leaked copied of this first version for Mac, our sources tell us that the final release version is much more polished and very usable, providing almost all of the functionality that is currently available in the PC version.

Despite a variety of rumors that are suggesting that RIM was going to give the new Mac version a new name, this does not seem to be the case. It will just be known as BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac. Some are still just calling it BlackBerry Desktop software for Mac. The bottom line is that the software will not get a flashy new name to go by.

For RIM the release of the software offers support to many Mac users that currently have BlackBerry devices, but have been considering a switch to the iPhone. The release of a native version of Desktop Manager for the Mac could be helpful in keeping these users in the BlackBerry camp. It has been also reported that many companies have asked for BlackBerry support for Mac, as their company is standardized on BlackBerry, but have more and more Mac boxes entering their environment, so support has become necessary for these corporate IT customers.
