Not exactly an invasion

Dell has updated its Alienware branded gaming line-up with new and some updated desktop systems and notebooks. Unfortunately, it's not "an invasion" that Alienware announced and hinted a while back but some announced things do look nice.

The Alienware M15x 15-inch notebook got a hardware update with new Core i7 mobile CPUs that can be paired up with Geforce GTX 260M graphics card and up to 8GB of memory. The choice includes Intel Core i7 720QM, 820QM and 920XM processors. The bigger M17x notebook got an ATI Mobility HD 4870 option that can now be ordered as a single or in CrossfireX configuration.

Alienware Aurora and Aurora ALX are the ones that Alienware revamped significantly, and these feature Core i7 processors that can be overclocked up to 3.6GHz, and of course they are available with ATI Radeon HD 5870 cards in Crossfire, up to 24GB of DDR3 memory and up to 2TB of HDD space.

Last but not least, the Area-51 and Area-51 ALX desktops now also feature the Core i7 that can be overclocked to 3.86GHz, up to two Geforce GTX 295 cards for some quad-SLI fun, 12GB of memory and up to six hard or solid state drives in various RAID configurations.

The M15x notebook starts at US $1,499, the two new Aurora and Aurora ALX systems start at US $1,299 while the all time favorite Area-51 desktops start at US $1,999. Of course, these are the lowest prices with the lowest choice of components, while they can easily be pushed to cost as five times as much.
