People like them thin and cheap

Sony has sold more than a million Playstation 3 Slim consoles since the launch 3 weeks ago.

It is a bit surprising to see such demand, as the PS3 was hardly the best selling console, but it seems consumers appreciate the lower price and new, compact design.

The PS3 Slim features a 120GB hard drive and sells for $299 or €249. However, it doesn't feature hardware PS2 emulation, but most people simply don't seem to care. Probably because they've got PS2s anyway, or they are just spoiled by HD.

In spite of the new pricing, the PS3 remains the priciest current generation console on the market, but it is also the only one to feature a Blu-ray drive. Nintendo will announce a $50 price cut for the Wii tomorrow and the 360 is obscenely cheap anyway.
