Less than a week after Apple launched its first native 64-bit OS X, Snow Leopard, the company has already announced plans to release its first software update to address some minor grievances.

AppleInsider recently stated that Cupertino is already hard at work on the first revision of its $29 dollar operating system. Developers participating in the invitation-only AppleSeed program received copies of Snow Leopard 10.6.1 on September 1st.

Since the release is very limited, not much is known about the fine details of the update other than the fact that it will address some critical security bugs and will implement minor stability fixes. Out of the most notable fixes, it should work to achieve compatibility with some Sierra Wireless 3G modems, it should address an item removal bug in the system Dock, and it should address an issue that might cause DVD playback to stop unexpectedly.

The Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1 update (build 10B503) will be released at under 72MB in size. Current speculation suggests that it will be released within a few weeks at most.
