Western Digital is now officially shipping its fastest 2TB drives to date, the Caviar Black and RE4.
WD's green flavoured Caviar has been around for quite a while now, but
like car engines, HDDs that spin at just 5400rpm just don't do the
trick for some users. Both new drives feature 64MB of cache, dual
processor and dual actuator technology and 3Gbps SATA.
The enterprise oriented RE4 boasts a higher MTBF of 1.2 million hours
and a few other features for business users. Unfortunately, the $299
price for the Caviar Black isn't what we'd callaffordable.
