Beatles on iTunes might be part of the event

Our friends from the cult of fruit checked in with news that they are now confirming that the traditional iPod/iTunes music event will take place on September 9th. It will be in San Francisco, most probably at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, where the event has been held in years past.

According to what we hear, we will likely be treated to announcements of new versions of the iPod, as well as the new version of iTunes 9 that we have already told you about. Some sort of social networking element is being rumored, but no one seems to know any specific details on this yet.

Once again, rumor of the launch of the Beatles catalog on iTunes is circulating and this could be in conjunction with Apple’s launch of what is being called the “Cocktail” project; which, according to reports, is a new digital album format. Of course, with the Rockband Beatles already being released the same day, it does seem that more than in years past the Beatles might finally make the jump to fully digital, but information is still hazy on this.

Perhaps the biggest question mark is whether Steve Jobs himself will deliver the keynote at the event. If he does, it will make the first time since his recent health problems that he has made a public appearance. If the Beatles announcement is going to actually be made this time around, we don’t see how he would not be involved in delivering the news himself.

As we told you yesterday, don’t think for a minute that Apple will be talking about the new Apple tablet device. We have again confirmed from an alternate source that this news will not arrive until next year. However, we are again hearing whispers of a new AppleTV device, but we still can’t seem to confirm the specifics.
