Seems White’s warnings are not working

Despite the warnings from UFC head-honcho Dana White, Electronic Arts has managed to already sign its first three MMA stars for its upcoming EA Sports MMA title.

EA has been able to secure fighters Gegard Mousasi, Renato Sobral, and Fedor Emelianeko, each of which will be in the EA MMA title. As part of their deal it appears that Mousasi and Sobral will be also receiving direct sponsorship from EA for the upcoming STRIKEFORCE event as part of their deal.

It seems as if the war declared by White on MMA talent between his UFC promotion and EA might be falling on deaf ears, at least for those non-UFC aligned fighters. Mousasi and Sobral will be featured in title fights in the upcoming STRIKEFORCE event scheduled for August 15th. White previously publicly announced that any MMA fighter that signed with EA for its MMA title would never fight in UFC or any of its associated promotions.

Peter Moore from EA Sports tried to calm the rhetoric from White by declaring that he had been a long time supporter of MMA, and that his push to develop a MMA title was out of his interest in the sport and not to compete with the already released UFC franchise that is in the THQ stable. It likely does not hurt, however, that THQ has been exceptionally successful with the release of UFC 2009.
