Will subsidize it in the U.S. market

Speculation continues that Apple is very close to finalizing a deal for its first Internet tablet product. Our sources close to the red v say that a deal is close for them to subsidize the Apple Internet tablet product in the U.S. market space.

From our sources we learn that the deal has not been struck yet, but it is very close for this product that is said to be much like a giant iPod Touch with built-in EVDO abilities. The device is said to be going after those who want something bigger than the iPhone or iPod touch for casual use or as an eReader, such as the Kindle or the recently announced product from Barnes and Noble.

From the latest rumors our sources tell us that Apple has been on the hunt for parts and a builder to make the product a reality, but we are not sure about this one. A tablet without a keyboard in this large of a form factor might be the biggest egg that Apple has laid since the Apple III, or even the Newton.

From what our sources are telling us now, if it is going to happen this year they will need to make it part of the pre-holiday iPod refresh and we not receiving the indications from our sources that the product is fully ready for production. Without a signed deal with Verizon to help subsidize the Apple tablet, we just don’t think Apple will risk it alone; as the price would be too high and the possible cost of failure could be great, as well.
