After backing AMD on
its first netbook, Gateway seems to have defected to Intel on its second
release.
The LT2000 is a 10.1-inch machine which has a spec that looks like
every other netbook on the market. A 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, LED-backlit 1,024
x 600 resolution display, 1GB of DDR2 memory, 160GB 5400RPM hard drive,
GMA950 graphics set, a card reader, built-in webcam, twin stereo
speakers, a trio of USB 2.0 sockets, three-cell battery and a
chassis.
The LT2000 is hitting the shops for $299.99. One, the LT2001u will
have a NightSky Black coating while the other, the LT2021u will be Cherry
Red. It is not clear why Gateway decided to jump into the arms of Intel. The
LT2000, with Intel inside, is really like most of the other netbooks on
the market.
It will be hard for most users to see any difference.
