Many have been asking for more specific info on the new BlackBerry known as codename Onyx. Many details have been arriving, but so far it does not appear to be anything that we have not already told you about. The most intriguing thing might be the fact that at least some of the latest Onyx test units are labeled as the BlackBerry Bold 9020.

While we have figured that Onyx would be in the Bold family of devices, the numbering of the unit model number as the 9020 makes us wonder why they would choose to make the model number above the 9000, as we were not under the impression that Onyx would be that significant of a step up from the 9000.

While it seems that we still have some mysteries yet to sort out on the Onyx, the latest whispers that we are hearing suggest that you will see Onyx before the end of the year and likely offered by some carriers in a holiday promotion.
