New layoffs expected at Yahoo
Hundreds might go next week
According to The New York Times, struggling search engine Yahoo is planning to further cut its workforce in the next few weeks.
This would be the third round of layoffs in under a year, and the first since CEO Carol Bartz took the helm. The number of affected workers is still unknown, but according to the report it is in the hundreds. At the moment Yahoo employs about 13,600.
Bartz has rekindled hopes Yahoo might be sold off to Microsoft, which tried to acquire it last year. However, it is still unclear if the recent talks will bear any fruit.
