Says there was no intrusion at all

China has
responded to claims by US national security officials, reported by the Wall Street Journal, that Chinese and Russian hackers broke into the US power grid, to probe security measures.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu says there was no intrusion at all. “We hope that the concerned media will prudently deal with some groundless remarks, especially those concerning accusations against China,” says Yu. “I have also noticed that the U.S. White House had denied the media reports.”

The state-run China Daily quoted Chinese experts who tied the whole matter to the financial crisis, and the perceived threat from China in the US. Beijing experts believe it is just a ploy by US politicians to shift the media's focus from domestic issues and play up the threat posed by China.
