Claims Qualcomm CEO

According to
Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs, netbook could very soon dominate the PC market, outselling bulkier and more serious notebooks.

Jacobs did not want to speculate on when exactly netbooks would overtake notebooks, but in an interview with Bloomberg, he said it would happen "relatively quickly".

Of course, you might want to take such claims with a grain of salt. After all, Qualcomm is preparing its Snapdragon CPU series and planning to take on Intel in the low-end netbook market. Snapdragon-based netbooks should end up slightly cheaper than Atom-based ones, at least if you look at current Atom pricing.

Netbook sales are going through the roof, and these cheap, cute toys are the only bright spot in the industry. However, we still don't see them taking so much market share from notebooks, at least not if vendors stick to Intel's and Microsoft's limitations.
