According to a brief Digitimes report, BenQ is planning to
introduce a number of thin notebooks based on AMD's Neo and Intel's
CULV platforms later this spring.
BenQ is apparently planning to launch 12.1-inch and 13.3-inch AMD Neo
based thin notebooks in May, but details are sketchy at the moment. For
comparison, HP's Pavilion DV2, the first and thus far only Neo based
notebook, is powered by an Athlon Neo CPU at 1.6GHz, ships either with
an X1250 IGP or HD 3410 discrete graphics, with prices starting at
€599.
The company is no stranger to the Neo platform, and has already
introduced a Neo based all-in-one desktop powered by the Sempron U210
processor at 1.5GHz. If it chooses to stick to cheap Semprons for its
notebooks, they could end up on the affordable side, i.e. cheaper than
comparable CULV based products. Hopefully we will find out more soon,
as they sem set to launch sometime in May.
Benq is reportedly also planning to launch CULV based thin notebooks at
a later date. Several vendors will introduce their CULV products in
May, so we probably won't have to wait long to see BenQ's CULVs.
