Maker of
exploding laptops, Apple is now getting into the field of exploding gadgets.
The outfit
is being sued by Lynette Antrobus, the mother of kid who had an iTouch explode
and catch fire in his pocket. The case
calls for $75,000 in compensatory damages, with additional punitive
fines.
According to
the court papers the iTouch was purchased on November 17, 2008 from
Apple. Apparently
the kid had taken it to school and was in his pocket. He heard a loud pop and a
burning sensation on his leg. When he stood up his pants were on
fire.
The fire had
burned through his pant's pocket and "melted through his Nylon/Spandex
underwear, burning his leg" giving him iburns. To make
matters worse he lost his expensive $400 iTouch, which apparently he still
wants.
Recently the
Japan division of Apple payed an unknown settlement fee to a young man in 2008
after he suffered burns from his Mac laptop battery, which also reportedly
caught fire.
Apple
fanboys writing in droves to tell us that Apple gear is too expensive and well
made to explode so therefore anything that does, is clearly a blessing from
Steve Jobs and are hoping that theirs will explode too.
