More than 20 employees complain

More than
50 coppers were called to the Hsinchu Science Park as 20 former TSMC workers complained about the way the company handled their firings.

The 20 wanted the Science Park administration to act as a go between for them. They are miffed that the chip maker made them sign a document certifying that they left TSMC, the world's largest contract chip manufacturer, voluntarily.

This meant that TSMC they could not be compensated based on retirement or preferential severance terms. They are fuming that TSMC told the world that their redundancies as a company policy to "eliminate the less competent and retain able employees" and demanded that they be given preference if TSMC increases its work force in the future.

TSMC management said the former TSMC employees could contact the company directly if they had any requests.
