Not closing down, just saving cost

It's come to our attention that Foxconn Channel, the division at Foxconn that focuses on retail products have moved back to Foxconn's Taiwan head quarters which are located in Tucheng, a suburb of Taipei.

This comes about six months after the division moved to Xindian, a more central part of Taipei. At the time the market was different and the company felt that it needed to split this business unit from the OEM business. With the general down turn of the economy, Foxconn decided that it was better to move this division back to the head quarters to save cost when it comes to the higher office rent etc.

There's no need to worry about the products disappearing, or even the closure of the Foxconn Channel division for now, at least not if our sources are right, despite earlier rumours. Although it's possible to read a lot into this, at the end of the day, this is a fairly small business unit at Foxconn. There have been no related layoffs and none are planned as far as what our sources are telling us.

Hopefully this move will allow Foxconn Channel to get more productive and get products out in the channel quicker than in the past, as this has been a major concern among consumers wanting to purchase products that have been announced.
