Wants to cancel the Netbook trademark

It seems like not only Dell are upset with Psion Teklogik, but it seems like Intel has now joined the fight to "free" the word netbook (or is that Netbook?), as Intel has filed a lawsuit against Psion Teklogik to have the term cancelled as a trademark.

Intel claims that the reason behind this is because the public is already using the word netbook as an "extensions of the notebook category, smaller computers purpose-built for mobile Internet access." Although we can't disagree with Intel, Psion did register this trademark many moons ago, before Intel started making its kind of netbooks.

It's now over five years since Psion had a Netbook product and this is part of the reason that Intel thinks it's time to give up the trademark for the term, not to mention the fact that they think the word has become generic. We wish them all the best and it looks like we're in for another fine legal battle over something rather silly.
