Tiny box and all-in-ones

It looks like MSI is ready to take on Asus' desktop Eee PC models, as according to Engadget Chinese, MSI has at least four new Wind desktop systems coming, three of them all-in-ones and one a direct competitor to the Asus Eee Box.

The Wind Box DC100 as it's called is actually a rather interesting little machine, although at 34x176x266mm (WxHxD) it's slightly larger than the Eee Box, but the benefit is that MSI has squeezed in a 3.5-inch hard drive which should offer somewhat better performance than most 2.5-inch drives, not to mention the option of adding a huge drive to a tiny system.

Other features are a bit more mundane starting with a mobile Atom N270 paired up with the 945GSE chipset and 1GB of DDR2 memory. However, MSI has gone for DVI which is nice to see and the system also has four USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, a memory card reader and two audio jacks. Sadly it doesn't seem to offer any kind of support for digital audio, which makes it slightly less appealing for HTPC users.

The other models have already been shown in the past by MSI and consist of the AE1900, AE2010 and AE2200. There isn't much new to report about these all-in-one systems apart from possibly the fact that they look production ready now. We have to give it to MSI for using fairly large displays in their all-in-ones compared to the ridiculous 15.6-inch display that Asus use on the Eee Top.
