Palm to join Open Screen Project

The continued enthusiasm for the Palm Pre with its new webOS received a big boost yesterday with the announcement that Palm will be joining the Adobe Open Screen Project and will support Flash on the Palm webOS and, of course, the new Palm Pre.

The news that Palm would support Flash is not really that much of a surprise, as by joining the Open Screen Project the company will be able to enable the Flash technology to deliver a rich content experience on the webOS platform, something that Palm needs to be very open ended and accessible to attract developers. The ability to use Flash content will attract developers to the webOS platform.

According to Adobe we can expect to see the Flash Player for smart phones before the end of 2009.

We have been also hearing some rumblings that RIM is considering adding Flash support to the BlackBerry OS as well in an upcoming future release.
