Led by industry titans

A coalition of tech companies led by Intel and Google have launched an initiative to reduce power consumption and thus the emissions of greenhouse gases.

The group, named The Climate Savers Computing Initiative, plans to cut power consumption in half by 2010. It is believed that the reduction will result in $5.5 billion savings in electricity costs and lower the emission of those nasty gases by 54 million tons each year.

So, in a few years we can expect much more efficient and slightly more expensive computers, but don't worry SUVs will stay the same and we all know the environment loves them.
