Cable is not us

Microsoft has dumped its 7.3 percent stake in Comcast the US's largest cable operator, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Redmond owned roughly 150.9 million Comcast shares. It last acquired 115 million Comcast shares in 2002 as part of a deal related to Comcast's acquisition of AT&T Broadband. Oddly Microsoft getting out of Comcast increased the share price of the outfit.

It is not clear what Redmond is up to.  It didn't have enough shares to try and influence the company and the shares might have been in Comcast just as an investment programme.
