A US court has ruled that Daniel Petic, 17, who shot his parents in a Halo 3 row back in October 2007, was not insane at the time of the crime. The judge rejected claims that Petric's Halo 3 addiction made him insane, he was tried as an adult, convicted, and could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The court concluded Petric planned the shootings for weeks, after his parents decided to take his Halo 3 game away from him. His mother died as a result of her injuries, while his father survived a shot to the head, and went on to testify in the trial.

He claims Daniel entered the room, asked him and his wife to close their eyes, pretending to have a surprise for them, and proceeded to shoot both of them with his father's 9mm handgun.

Microsoft said it was aware of the situation and called the incident tragic.
