German Deutsche Telekom has formed an alliance with British rival Vodafone to develop a fast new fiber optic network for high-speed Internet access.
The big idea is to develop two projects in Germany to establish a high-speed Internet network that could serve 100,000 homes.
According to a DT spokesman, the first thing will be to see if the pair can make things work at a technical level. It also wants to show that Deutsche Telekom does not want to monopolize the new networks and could work with rivals to share expensive resources.
