id Software announced one of the world’s premier LAN parties, QuakeCon, will be held in Dallas, Texas on August 13 through 16, 2009 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. As always, admission will be free, thanks to the sponsors and exhibitors.

The big highlight of QuakeCon 2009 is expected to be the new Quake LIVE Web-based multiplayer free-to-play game. Of course, it is expected that a tournament will crown the first ever Quake LIVE champion.

Online registration will open at 9:30 EST on March 6th, 2009.  More details are expected to be released over the next couple of months. The Hilton Anatole is already starting to take room reservations for the event.
