Samsung may be working on a smart speaker of its own to match that offered by Google and Amazon.

The company is developing a smart speaker powered by its Bixby voice assistant, according to The Wall Street Journal.

According to the The Wall Street Journal, Samsung wants a slice of the voice-controlled home speaker action. Details about Samsung's speaker and when we might expect to see it on the market are scant, the Journal insists that it will be powered by Bixby.

For those who camke in late, Bixby is Samsung's answer to Amazon's Alexa or Apple's Siri and at the moment has only been seen in South Korea. An English-language version is still in the works, but no one has seen it.

Other tech companies like Alibaba, Apple, and Microsoft are developing their own smart speakers to compete with Amazon and Google.
