The Asus bamboo notebook has been coming for quite some time and we've managed to dig up a few new pictures of it. We'd expect that Asus is now finally very close to launching it, at least if these pictures are anything to go by.

It looks like Asus has designed a bamboo mouse to go with the notebook and it will also get some kind of soft carrying pouch made out of leather (which somehow doesn't seem as environmentally sound as bamboo). We're not sure what the little book-like thing in the picture is for, though.

It'll also be interesting to see how well the bamboo touchpad works, as bamboo ought to be a lot thicker than plastic, although it could simply be as easy as Asus has just added a bamboo print to the touch pad. Is it just us, or does the lid on the picture below seem to be way wonky in the shot of the front of the notebook?

Bamboo might be the material of the future, but a lot of it is going to come down to price if this first foray into using different materials in mass produced notebooks will become more popular or not.
