Dominos to partner with TiVo

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. TiVo appears to have gotten there first, with a new innovative service that partners the DVR provider with pizza delivery specialist Dominos to offer pizza that you can order using your TiVo.

According to TiVo, the new Dominos ordering service will allow users to click their remote when a Dominos ad or product placement takes place on the screen. After clicking their remote the user can use their remote control to access an ordering screen. Of course, you can access the on-demand ordering from the menu as well if you don’t need to be prompted to order.

The on-screen menus will walk the user through the ordering process and then you can track the delivery time and status by using your TiVo. In about 30 minutes the pizza that you ordered will show up at your door. (Hopefully you won't be too lazy to get up from your couch and answer the door. sub.ed.)

While you can’t pay for the pizza on the screen and you still have to get up to answer the door to pay for your pizza, some are already calling it a modern marvel 20th century feature. No word yet on which TiVo units the Dominos on-demand ordering will be compatible with, but it is likely that it will only work with the latest generation of TiVo units.
