Channel business rumors

We're hearing from several sources that Foxconn's channel business, i.e., its retail product lines, are in some kind of trouble. So far, we haven't managed to get any confirmed details of what exactly is going on, but it doesn't sound like good news.

First of all, it seems like all production of Foxconn's retail motherboards has been stopped and there are also rumors about all product development being put on ice. If this indeed proves to be the case, then it's bad news indeed, as Foxconn has just started to come out with some interesting motherboards.

We're also hearing rumors about internal company restructuring and this is done differently in Asia than it generally is in Europe or the U.S. Many companies in the Asian region get rid of people first, then re-hire a new team and start over. We're not sure if this is the best way forward, but then again, this might not be happening at Foxconn.

This does, of course, have nothing to do with the rest of Foxconn's business, it's just the motherboard and to some degree their graphics card products that will be affected. We'll keep you posted once we find out more details about what's actually going on.
