16GB SSD, 6-cell battery with a pinch of XP

Acer has
refreshed its Aspire One series of netbooks with the A110X, the first SSD equipped Aspire One to ship with XP.

While the Linux version packs an 8GB SSD, the SSD capacity on the new Windows SKU has been bumped up to a more acceptable 16GB, and RAM was doubled from 512 to 1024MB.

However, the biggest and most welcome addition is the 6-cell battery. Coupled with an SSD and an 8.9-inch LED backlit screen, it should provide users a couple of hours of extra battery life.

There are some drawbacks, too. The new battery adds 200g to the weight for a grand total of 1.2kg, which is still a bit lighter than most of its competitors. The other issue is the price - at just over €400, the new A110X is too expensive and not worth the bother.
